Say what you will about his accent, no one could play Tyrion like Peter Dinklage. Tyrion is humour and heart, wise and witty, and another character with a lot of good scenes to weed through before we came up with the…
Top 5 Tyrion Lannister Moments
5. Many Courses~Episode 1
Reasoning: In Game of Thrones, whores and exposition go together like sword and sorcery. We meet Tyrion while he is being pleasured by the red-headed whore, Ros (Esme Bianco). He may be a dwarf (not the magical bearded kind) but he’s as lusty as any man and not afraid to experiment. Jaime interrupts his fun and the two have a little chat before Jaime ‘serves all the courses at once.’ This scene proves Game of Thrones isn’t children’s fantasy.
4. The Mountain Clans~Episode 5
Bronn: You need a woman. Nothing like a woman after a fight.
Tyrion: I’m willing if she is.
Reasoning: Tyrion may be more of a lover than a fighter but he can still hold his own when the comes. After convincing Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) to untie him, he takes up a shield; and proceeds to bash in a man’s head with it. Brains or brawn, never underestimate the Imp.
3. Slapping Joffrey~Episode 2
Tyrion: One word and I’ll hit you again.
Reasoning: Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) is an evil child. He’s pompous, cruel, and selfish. It was only a matter of time before someone slapped him across the face. Fortunately for us it was Tyrion…and he hits the annoying little prince, not once, but three times! We could watch this over and over (and have…).
2. Looking at Lysa~Episode 5
Reasoning: Catelyn brings Tyrion to her sister in the Eyrie, only to find that Lysa (Kate Dickie) is a wee bit nuts. She rants about Lannisters, murder, and betrayal, while her seven-year-old son breastfeeds. Yep, breastfeeds. There’s really nothing you can say to that. It’s weird, it’s creepy, and Tyrion’s expression says exactly what the audience is thinking–“What the hell is going on?!”
1. All Dwarves are Bastards~Episode 1
Jon Snow: What the hell do you know about being a bastard?
Tyrion: All Dwarves are bastards in their father’s eyes.
Reasoning: Tyrion comes across an angry Jon Snow at the king’s welcoming feast. He schools Eddard’s bastard on the finer points of being an outcast as he downs a bottle. Tyrion looks like he could just be a drunken fool, but the this scene peels back some of his layers. Peter Dinklage gives Tyrion the perfect balance of wit and intelligence. The Imp isn’t short on talent.
