Michael Fassbender: Prequel vs Reboot

X-men or Spider-Man?

It seems Michael Fassbender has a problem any geek would dream of.  According to Roger Friedman at Showbiz411, Fassbender is being pursued by the X-men and Spider-man film franchises.  Director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) has approached the Inglourious Basterds star to play an un-named villain in his Spider-man reboot, slated for a 2012 release.  Matthew Vaughn must have seen the same villainous potential because it’s rumoured Vaughn wants him for Magneto in X-men: First Class, scheduled to be released in 2011.  Earlier this week,Vaughn announced James McAvoy had secured the role of Charles Xavier, previously played by Patrick Stewart.  X-men: First Class seems to be in full swing as location scouting is already underway.  Rumoured locations include 1960s feeling South or Central American Islands, cafe and bars, an art deco restaurant  over looking water, and a Miami style harbour for yachts.  Which ever choice Fassbender makes, he’s going to have to do it quickly.

I can picture it now– Young Magneto and Xavier cruising around the world on a yacht, wind in their hair (um…scalp?).
Speaking of Cruisin’…
